Tattooing.
As a tattoo artist, Brooke Desieus specializes in bold, traditional-style tattoos. Her portfolio and flash pieces display a variety of designs, but her favorite pieces to draw and tattoo are medieval and fantasy-themed. She finds deep satisfaction in designing tattoos that honor the roots of traditional tattooing while incorporating subjects that intrigue her.
Her drawing skillfulness comes from years of artistic training and a natural eye for detail. Whether working in black and gray or full-color, her pieces are always highly readable and full of life.

Small Business: Bloodstone Beetle
Brooke is also the founder and creative force behind Bloodstone Beetle, her Etsy shop where she sells handcrafted jewelry, customized tote bags, and one-of-a-kind framed collages. Every item in her shop reflects a blend of gothic, nature-inspired, and vintage styles.
Bloodstone Beetle is a curated collection of tactile, wearable, and displayable art.

Writing and Journalism
Brooke Desieus is a versatile writer and journalist whose work spans across multiple genres. Writing under the pen name Mauve Von Hemlock, she has contributed to TrillMag, an online magazine focusing on youth culture and lifestyle.
Brooke has also contributed creative content to The New Calliope, the official publication of Clowns of America International. This magazine serves as a communication vehicle for the clowning and circus community, featuring articles, news, and resources for performers.
Brooke is also the author of The Art of Becoming, a reflective work that delves into personal growth and creative identity.

Music and Performance
As a classically trained vocalist with over a decade of professional training, Brooke has studied opera, musical theater, and traditional vocal technique. While she previously participated in musical theater, she ultimately stepped away from that scene to focus on more independent, experimental creative projects.
Brooke is currently working on her avant-garde debut album. As a multi-instrumentalist, she is self-taught in electric and acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard, and ukulele, and she taught guitar for two years. Her musical vision is to create layered, emotionally immersive soundscapes.
She has performed in bands, musical theater productions, and collaborative stage shows. She loves learning new skills and techniques to improve her craft and has taken a variety of classes at Studio19 and The Maile Image Modeling & Acting School. While she briefly explored dance, she admits with good humor that she has ‘zero skill points in dance’—though she has still appeared in musicals and dance performances with Studio19 and Bay Street Players.

Academic Roots: English and Entomology
Brooke holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a minor in Entomology from the University of Florida—a seemingly unconventional pairing that perfectly captures her diverse interests. Her English studies focused heavily on creative writing, poetry, fiction, children’s literature, and folklore.
In the realm of entomology, Brooke developed a deep fascination with honeybees—Apis mellifera specifically—and studied their behavior and biology extensively. She completed a semester abroad in Thailand, where she expanded her research to include Apis cerana, Apis dorsata, Apis andreniformis, Apis florea, and stingless honey bee species. Her knowledge of and love for insects (especially bees, beetles, and lepidopterans) often makes its way into her art.

Lifelong Artist and Community Supporter
Brooke’s love for art began in childhood and has remained a central theme throughout her life. She attended the Mount Dora Center for the Arts summer camp as a kid, and later returned as a volunteer, helping the next generation of young artists find their creative spark.
Her passion for the arts spans numerous mediums. In college, she took a couple of ceramics classes and finds clay to be one of the most relaxing and forgiving art forms. Today, her hobbies include sewing, rollerskating, insect preservation, SFX makeup, traveling, and prop making. She’s also a gamer at heart. She enjoys exploring immersive worlds across a wide variety of games—but holds a special love for the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series’.

If you’re looking for bold, meaningful tattoos, unique handmade art, thoughtful writing, or genre-defying music, Brooke Desieus offers a rare synthesis of all four. With roots in science, literature, and the arts, her work bridges intuition with intellect—always grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and craft.
